The Orientation

Kitsilano Workout offers each new member an Orientation through our Personal Training Department. This is a free one hour appointment which is booked with one of our senior Personal Trainers. The Personal Trainer will start by sitting with the new member and discussing their goals and health related issues and concerns. The Personal trainer will take the new member through the facility and make sure the member is comfortable with how the equipment works, how to adjust the selectors on the equipment, and how to work the computers on the cardio equipment.

The basics of fitness will be discussed so that the member has enough information to get started in the gym in a safe and comfortable manner. The Personal Trainer may also suggest certain classes that they think would benefit the new member. Have any questions about nutrition? You can briefly discuss these and other matters with the Personal Trainer during your orientation.

What to bring?
Wear comfortable work out clothing, a towel and a bottle of water.

Need to Change your appointment?
Please give 24 hours notice as a courtesy to the Personal Trainer.
Although Kitsilano Workout provides the Orientation for free, we utilize our top Personal Trainers. They have booked off this time specifically to be with you.

Failure to provide 24 hours notice to change or cancel an orientation session will result in a $25.00 fee. We will do our utmost to call the day prior to your appointment to remind you, but the responsiblity is yours!

Please be advised that the goal of an Orientation session is not to give the new member a fitness program. We are aware that there are facilities that will provide a program based on a fat percentage reading, heart rate, weight and age of the member. We do not believe in this methodology. Our Trainers must spend a minimum of four hours with a client to properly assess the current fitness level of the client. The Personal Trainer needs this time to create and train the client on their individualized fitness program. Our programs are based on functional movement, which take several repetitions and examples before the member can successfully do the exercise on their own. This way we ensure that the members are being given the attention that they deserve and are getting a program that is safe, state of the art and effective.
